CIP RC/PT Girder Help

Using Graphics Windows in CIP RC/PT Girder

Several tabs and dialog boxes in this program contain one or more graphics windows. These windows display a representation of the item you are constructing. Making changes to the graphics can only be accomplished by changing the field values.

  • Copy View

This command copies the current contents of the graphics window to the Clipboard. You can then paste it as a graphic image into another application such as Microsoft® Word®. The image will be copied as a Windows Enhanced Metafile, usually at the size you see on the screen. Once you paste the image, it can usually be resized as needed.

It is important to note that when pasting a graphic image into another application, you can always reduce the size without losing quality; however, large increases in size may result in reduced quality, especially for curved segments.CIP RC/PT Girder tries to minimize this loss by using your current printer settings instead of the video display settings when generating graphic output for the Clipboard since printers generally have a higher resolution than video displays. If you intend to copy a graphic window for printing as an E-sized drawing in an application (e.g., Microsoft Word), make sure your printer settings have been set properly before copying the image. Also, when editing a graphic window in another application, you may find that the non-orthogonal, rotated text used in some graphic views is not properly handled.

  • Print View

This command opens the Print Setup dialog box, which allows you to print the current contents of the graphic window to any supported printer. Images will be scaled to fit the settings you specified using the Page Setup command in the File menu, including paper size, orientation, and margins. CIP RC/PT Girder also adds a border and title block as part of the print output.

  • Print Preview

This command lets you preview the output prior to printing. It is not available for most graphics windows in dialog boxes.

Click the Print button to send the output to your printer. Click the Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons to example the output in more detail. When you are finished, click the Close button to return to the program.

Note: The Next Page, Prev Page, and Two Page buttons currently serve no purpose in CIP RC/PT Girder since graphics are limited to one page of output.
  • Export/Save View

This command allows you to export/save the contents of a graphic window to another file format. CIP RC/PT Girder currently supports three file formats for export/save: Windows Enhanced Metafiles (.emf.), AutoCAD Data Exchange Format (.dxf), and Bentley Microstation design files (.dgn). Prior to export/save, you must specify the file name, format, and location of the file using the Export/Save dialog box.

Note: CIP RC/PT Girder Export/Save data based on the units selected in the Project tab.
  • Full Screen Viewer

This command opens the selected graphic in a new, independent window that offers advanced zoom and pan functionality.
